Electronic Issue and Lab staff manually checking results.
Question relating to Electronic Issue (EI)
If BMS staff need to check every result from the blood group analyser to ensure it has not missed a weak antibody would this be in breach of electronic issue guidelines which states "The overall process for determining eligibility for EI must be controlled by the LIMS and not rely on manual intervention or decision making"?
To further clarify, by having to check the Antibody status, does this count as an intervention?, ie if we decide an antibody screen is positive when the analyser has interpreted it as negative, does this mean that the process is not in keeping with the guidelines for EI?
Eg: We have seen reactivity in a well and upon investigation we have determined the patient has an Anti-Jkb.
